Questions
Which barcode format should I use?
EAN-13 (UPC-A in North America) for products sold in shops, ITF-14 for shipping cartons, Code 128 for any text such as shipping labels and inventory.
Can I use any number on my product?
For products sold in shops, EAN and UPC numbers come from GS1, which assigns them to your company; the generator only draws them.
What is the check digit?
The last digit of EAN, UPC and ITF-14 codes, worked out from the others so scanners catch misreads; it's added for you, or checked if you type it.
Will my barcode scan?
Where your browser's barcode reader knows the format, it's read back and the page tells you. For print, SVG stays sharpest.
