Numbers with a leading zero (007, ZIP codes) and numbers longer than 15 digits stay text, so nothing is lost.
How to convert CSV to JSON
- Paste or type your CSV, or drop a CSV file.
- Check the delimiter (guessed for you: comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) and whether the first row is the header.
- Choose an array of objects (keyed by the header) or an array of arrays, and whether numbers, true, false and empty fields are read as such.
- Check the rows in the table, then copy or download the JSON.
Questions
Are numbers kept as numbers?
Yes, when you ask: numbers, true, false and empty fields (null) are read as such. Numbers with a leading zero, such as 007 or a ZIP code, stay text so nothing is lost.
What if my CSV uses semicolons?
The delimiter is guessed from the text, so CSV from Excel in Europe (semicolons) or tab separated values work too; you can also pick it.
What happens to empty or repeated column names?
Empty names become column_1, column_2…, repeated names get _2, _3, and fields past the header become column_N, so no value is lost.
Is my data uploaded?
No. It's converted by your browser as you type; nothing is sent anywhere.
