How do I make a quiet recording louder without distortion?
Choose As loud as it can be: its loudest moment is found and the whole sound raised until it just reaches the top, so nothing clips.
What does 200% do?
It makes the sound twice as loud; parts already loud are clipped where they would go over the top, which can crackle, so raise it only as much as you need.
