Trim Audio

Cut a sound file to the part you want, with a fade in and out if you like, in your browser

Drop a sound file here

Or choose one: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, or a video; it's cut in your browser and never uploaded

The waveform is drawn by decoding the whole sound in your browser, which takes a few seconds for a long file. WMA, AIFF, AVI, FLV and WMV aren't read.

How to trim an audio file

  1. Drop a sound file on the page or choose it: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, or a video.
  2. Drag the two handles on the waveform to the part you want, or type the start and end times, and play it.
  3. Add a fade in and out if you like.
  4. Save it as it is or as MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG, and download it.

Questions

Does trimming lower the quality?

Saved as it is, the part is copied, not converted, so nothing is lost. A fade means the sound is written again, in the format you pick.

Can I cut the sound of a video?

Yes, drop the video and the part of its sound you keep is saved as a sound file.

Why does the waveform take a moment?

It's drawn by decoding the whole sound in your browser, a few seconds for a long file.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It's cut by your browser, on your device. WMA, AIFF, AVI, FLV and WMV can't be read.
